Lord of Rage- Jill Monroe (book 2)
Lost and alone, Princess Breena prayed for survival and vengeance for her stolen kingdom. She found both in a woodland cottage...in a dark bear of a man.
The golden-haired beauty had eaten his food and slept in his bed when Osborn found her. Though he wanted to awaken his virgin princess to carnal pleasures, Breena wanted more—including his warrior skills. Skills the once-legendary mercenary had long buried. Now Osborn had a choice—risk his life or deny his princess her fairy-tale ending
Let me start with saying I giggled a little when I realized this story was like Goldie locks and the Three Bears. I've never read anything by Jill Monroe but I will certainly now, I really like how she writes. Since I read the first book in this series I kinda knew what to expect from this story and it did not disappoint. I liked Breena from the beginning, even though I thought she was going to be a spoiled princess who expected everyone to wait on her hand and foot. But surprisingly she is well written and not a spoiled princess at all, she was willing to get in there and do what she could to get back to her realm and help her family & her people. She is a witch and one of her powers is being able to cast dream spells and she is able to put herself in them. For months she dreams about a dark mysterious warrior, her warrior, but she was never able to see his face clearly. The Blood Scorcher attacks her family and she is sent to a different realm, for days she wonders around and stumbles on to a cabin in the woods.
Osborn is a large male Ursan warrior, who lost most of his family during a violent attack. He saved his two younger brothers and over the years did some mercenary work to support them all. Once he had enough of the killing he settled down far away from others and built a cabin in the woods. To his surprise he comes home to a beautiful woman in his bed, he then realizes this is the woman he has been dreaming about for months. He doesn't trust anyone and least of all her even though he is attracted to her and wants her more than his next breath.
This is a pretty fast paced story that happens over several days, first day you meet a grumpy but oh so sexy bear and the last day you love a little less grumpy and a lot sexier bear!!

The Darkest Surrender- Gena Showalter
Possessed by the demon of Defeat, Strider cannot lose a challenge without suffering unimaginable pain. For him, nothing stands in the way of victory. Until Kaia, an enchanting Harpy, tempts him to the razor’s edge of surrender.
Known among her people as The Disappointment, Kaia must bring home the gold in the Harpy Games or die. Strider is a distraction she can’t afford because he as an agenda of his own – steal first prize, an ancient godly artifact, before the winner can be named. But as the competition heats up, only one prize will matter – the love neither had thought possible…
Funny, Witty, Sexy, and Powerful are just a few words I would use to describe this book, I have loved this series since I picked up the first book over a year ago. This one is like the first few in the series, the storyline and the writing to me is better than the previous book in this series. Strider is tall, blond and just all around sexy but he also has an ego to go with all of that. We met him many books back but really just got to know him in the book before this one, but since this is his story we get to know him even better and honestly I liked every part of him. In the beginning he is just an arrogant ass but to read about him getting "self" pulled down a notch or two was great. Sometimes it just takes a woman to make a man open his eyes and heart for them to realize what they really need in their life.
Like Strider, we met Kaia a few books back, she has a few sisters in previous books, one married to a Lord and another to an angel. I really liked her from the beginning, she is a kick ass chick that doesn't come across as too hard or even too obnoxious especially since she can wipe the floor with just about anyone she is up against. She is a Harpy and is naturally strong but Kaia has a soft side that not many people get to see. She knows Strider is her consort but he denies her at every turn until he learns that she really does need him by her side during the dangerous Harpy Games. Not only is love on the line but so is her life. We have a few of the old troublemakers in this story but we also get s few new ones.

Envy- J.R. Ward - Book 3
A man and a woman tread the lines of danger, desire, and deliverance. As the son of a serial killer, homicide detective Thomas "Veck" DelVecchio, Jr., grew up in the shadow of evil. Now, on the knife-edge between civic duty and blind retribution, he atones for the sins of his father- while fighting his inner demons. Assigned to monitor Veck is Internal Affairs officer Sophia Reilly, whose interest in him is both professional and arousingly personal. And Veck and Sophia have another link: Jim Heron, a mysterious stranger with too many answers... to questions that are deadly. When Veck and Sophia are drawn into the ultimate battle between good and evil, their fallen angel savior is the only thing that stands between them and eternal damnation.
Jim is ready to get back out into battle with his two partners and fellow archangels Ad and Eddie after losing the last soul to Devina. So now good and evil are tied one soul a piece. But right when the new battle begins Devina does what demons do and cheats. Which sadly ends Eddies life,( Eddie was my favorite by the way.. not happy) by doing this she knows not only did she take out Eddie but Ad also because they were so close. Now Jim is left alone to help Veck get to his crossroads. But he can only help him get there safely, not help him make the right choice. Veck’s mother was killed by his serial killer father and his whole life he has felt like he’s had a killer locked inside him. When you look down at his shadow he has two. So when he finds himself at a motel holding a bleeding serial killer he figures he killed him. But being a cop he still calls 911. And that’s when internal affairs show up and Officer Reilly. But after investigating the scene and the clues she finds Veck not guilty but he doesn’t believe it yet. Can Jim and/or Reilly convince him he doesn’t have to be evil?
My rating is a 3.5
